Why shouldnt the president be given more executive power?

i have to write an essay about this and i just want to see what peoples thoughts are. My reasoning so far is that it would promote selfish actions, like involvement with corporations n stuff. And he would create rules not representative of the feelings of the ppl (liek patriot act). also the pres isnt a representative of the whole population anyway so the idea the he is the ultimate rep because he is elected by the ppl is false, and thus shouldnt attribute to more power.
